Hello there! I'm Emily.
educator • journalist • Shakespeare enthusiast
Educational programs in museums and theaters — this is the realm where I've forged a new career path, after devoting my first post-college years to entertainment journalism work in Los Angeles.
My recent work includes teaching at the French American School of Puget Sound and two years managing interdisciplinary public programs for all ages at the Berkshire Museum.
As for my journalism work, I don’t expect to ever fully step away from writing about film, television, theater, and comic books. My passion for telling storytellers’ stories is alive and well. Among my recent articles is an interview with Christopher Lloyd about playing King Lear and a feature about the Manchester world premiere of Back to the Future: The Musical, and in December 2023 I relaunched my podcast, Shakespeare's Shadows.
So, editors: if you need a freelance writer with extensive experience in feature writing, news reporting, and event coverage, feel free to reach out — I’d love to work with you.
My writing has been published in the Los Angeles Times, The Hollywood Reporter, Entertainment Weekly, Mental Floss, HitFix, TV Guide, Inverse, io9, and more.
